Planned work, in the context of PoLoS, is divided into four main groups:

WG0
addresses
all the administrative and technical management tasks, such as project
management, dissemination, exploitation, assessment and evaluation of the
project.
WG1
tries
to establish the requirements of the system and initiates work on the Process
Models. UML will be extensively used towards the formal specification of
requirements and the specification of the pursued system. Additionally,
languages like SDL may also be used. WG1 will also include extensive surveys on
state-of-the-art technologies of the considered domain in order to cater for the
widest possible technological domain.
WG2
will
be the core activity within the project. WG2 will deliver both the Service
Creation Environment and the Service Deployment and Provision platform. Towards
these objectives, the consortium will capitalize on well-established
technologies and standards like J2EE and XML.
WG3
will
demonstrate the easiness in the deployment of new LBS using the outcomes of WG2.
At first WG3 will try to integrate the full-scale system into a testing
environment. The rationale behind this activity is the validation of interfaces
towards positioning technologies or the low-level telecom infrastructure (e.g.,
terminals exposing their capabilities to the fixed network infrastructure),
before the fully-fledged deployment on equipment provided by the participating
telecom operator.
